There are a few issues that will cause this to occur, to fix the issue please try the following steps:
Make sure you have a strong connection to the internet.*
Make sure that your "full name" in your settings does not have any characters other than letters
Try deleting and reinstalling the app
You may be blacklisted for sending too many messages within a certain time frame. Please reboot your modem and wifi router to obtain a new external IP and reconnect your device.
If you are having trouble sending text messages to cell phone numbers, please ensure that your TextNow account has a phone number on it. You can view your phone number/obtain a phone number by selecting the icon that looks like a person from the TextNow toolbar and then selecting the Phone Number field.
*It is common to think you have a strong internet connection when the signal indicator on your device is full, however, this only indicates your connection to the router and not your internet connectivity. To test if you have a connection please open your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari) and try to load a webpage such as http://www.textnow.com
